First Family Trip to the Cottage

About two weeks ago our family headed off to the cottage for a "long weekend". Mom joined us as well which made it a four generation event.

The weather was gorgeous, especially Saturday and Sunday and we enjoyed being outside.

The "boys of summer" find a new way to retrieve water from the lake. It's a good way to avoid the leeches, but looks a little dangerous!

Smores beside the lake

One evening we had a campfire & made smores - tricky, sticky, but tasty!

Just lounging around!

The boys had a blast!

Elliot on the beach

This was Elliot's favorite activity. This, and tossing stones in the lake!

Scooping up lake water & pouring into either onto the sand, into a bucket or any other available container. Dave set up the kiddie pool, the boys poured endless buckets into it and Dave supplied the minnows and water beetles. Endless fun!

Cottage Fun

The swings provided some entertainment.

But the beach was definitely the main attraction. Elliot managed to lose his balance and fell in up to his chest in the cold water. He was not impressed and could not see the humor in the situation!

Some indoor fun

Elliot, spending some quiet time with Papa.

Jonas, focusing on playing a game.

Jody, holding a contented Sadie.

Boating

Going for a ride in the fishing boat. This was before Dave arrived with the CRV with the hitch that allowed us to get the Dyne in the water.

Jonas was a little leary at first and cautioned Papa not to go too fast. Elliot kept saying "faster, faster"! So indicative of their individual personalities!

To sum it up, we had a great summer weekend!

Visitors from Indiana

My sister June, husband Marc, and their children Jill and Jordan were out for a visit.

Our grandsons, Jonas and Elliot, were thrilled to be taken for a ride in Grandma Eidse's golf cart by Jill & Jordan.

It was a short visit, but good non the less.
The boys loved the attention Jordan paid to them!

Gifts were exchanged for various reasons... A pretty little dress for Sadie.
