Announcing the arrival of Sadie Matilda!

Sadie Matilda, our first granddaughter, arrived yesterday, May 27th at 10:00pm. She weighed in at 9 lbs 1 oz and measured 21 1/2 inches long. We think she looks a lot like Elliot did as a baby. She looks like she will have his super curly hair! We've already fallen in love with her and are so thankful that she is nearby for us to enjoy and love her!

Party Time!

It's a shower for Vicki & son, Nolan.

Great grandma Eidse holding the life of the party.

He is very handsome and sweet and is frequently hungry!

I realized too late that I didn't get a picture of mommy and baby but I got this one instead!

Friday afternoon with Jonas

Friday afternoons are my special time with Jonas. This particular Friday we decided to go on a field trip to visit the high points of Morden. We started by going to Decor to make sure Papa is doing a good job. Shirley greets us as we enter.

Papa usually has time for an "apple juice party" even if it's only for a few minutes. Jonas is wearing his multi-purpose hat just in case. It needed a little adjusting so Papa gets the job done.

  There, that's better!

Tour of Stepen Street

We walk down Stephen Street and Jonas spies the scooters at Feelin' Good. A perfect opportunity for a free ride!
Or at least, a pretend ride, which is almost as good as a real ride!

Next door is the bridal shop. We enter to have a look. I've been curious to go inside. The bright, bold colors hold some fascination for Jonas. This bright orange is a favorite.

The red is nice, too. But Gigi, let's move on. There must be more exciting shops down the street!
This is our final stop - "Oldies and Goodies". Jonas meets the the proprietor who is very "kid-friendly".

We explore the treasures for a bit, then decide it's time for a snack.

Fortunately, they have something that's just right for Jonas - a huge jam-jam!

Yum, very tasty! And so quickly we've set a precedent! Friday afternoons should always include a jam-jam at Mr. Wiebe's!

Visit to Scott & Kim's in Corvallis, Oregon

It's now 2 weeks ago that Mom & I went to visit Scott & Kim in Oregon. The weather was mostly cloudy and cool, with temps probably much like Manitoba's. However, the trees & grass were green & vibrant and the flowers were in full bloom. That makes such a difference! Here we are at a duck pond, enjoying the scenery.

Scott & Kim enjoy the numerous squirrels that come to visit their yard. Their squirrel feeder is a major attraction for the squirrels (free peanuts!) and the squirrels are a constant source of entertainment for them!

The Backyard

Scott & Kim have a beautiful yard, especially when all the shrubs & trees are in full bloom. While we were there the pink azaleas & the variegated pink rhododendrons were blooming. In the coming weeks, different colored rhododendrons will take their turns at providing a spectacular display of floral beauty.

Scott did the photo shoot so there were lots of pictures to choose from!
They have re-done their entire house & it looks amazing. However, I like their kitchen best. It's not big but it just looks very classy.

They have recently added a hot tub to their back yard and have been busily extending their deck to include that new feature. We enjoyed the use of it especially on cool mornings or evenings.

Since Scott's birthday was less than 2 weeks ago, we celebrated his birthday. His restaurant of choice is Block 15 Brewery where they serve his favorite burger. His birthday cake was a peach cobbler that we all shared - it was delicious!

Hanging around Corvallis

Since the weather was damp & cool, we decided to have lunch at the Soup Shop one day. Scott was busy at work so just the three of us went.

Hot soup on a cool day just hits the spot!

All done - just relaxing.

Every day we drove past this yard full of beautiful tulips. Finally, I just walked over & snapped some pictures.

Trip to Newport

One day Kim drove us to the coast. Scott stayed behind to work. As usual, it was cool and breezy at the ocean. This is down at the pier where the sailboats & fishing boats come in.

The sea lions are the attraction here. We got at look at them swimming towards a reef. The group that were lounging on the pier included one that had obviously gotten into some trouble. A string around his neck caused a huge infected-looking sore. Poor thing.
A nice spot to relax & wait for a ride!

I'm always on the lookout for establishments that are named after someone I know. Well, after many years, I've finally found mine!! We were driving slowly down some narrow streets and suddenly I spotted it!

I quite like it because it represents two things I enjoy doing - reading & eating! How good is that! We didn't go in to check it out.
