Sunday afternoon wiener roast

Having checked the weather forecast, it seemed like a good idea to have a wiener roast this afternoon. And a good idea it turned out to be! The day was beautiful - sunny, calm and almost warm! This is Jay & Andrea's yard, a much nicer and larger area than our tiny backyard!

Grandma D enjoyed herself and loved being outdoors and watching the greatgrandkids.

Sadie enjoyed herself, too! Sitting in her booster seat, just like home!

We didn't really need the smoke - no mosquitoes yet!

Sadie is still quite content to sit and play. She has no need to crawl or explore!

And, our new kitchen is finally making an appearance! We can imagine what will it will look like when it's all complete. By Tuesday, it's supposed to be ready for templating the countertop. After that, it will be another two weeks till it is installed. However, we will have a temporary sink, which will be great!

Before & After

This was taken back in February before the last of the cabinets were removed.

This was what it looked like after we returned from Palm Springs this time. They are waiting on special hardware for the drawers before the kitchen can be completed. We are thinking it will happen in the next day or so and that the kitchen installation will be started this week.

This was our eating area earlier on.

Now you can see the new flooring as well as the fresh coat of paint - Jamesboro Gold. We really like the paint color!

Snapshots

Here's Hannah! She is very chatty these days! These shots are all taken at the family baby shower we had for Andrea & Hannah.

Meet my Mom, Matilda! I like this picture of her!

Jenna joined us along with her sisters, mom and grandma.

See Sadie being playful! She's a little character! I see traces of Grandpa Eidse in her. Oops, this was not taken at the shower. We had a newcomers' lunch at church today & she was sitting on Papa's lap.

Palm Springs Revisited

After a brief "back to work" interlude, we returned once again to Palm Springs. This day we golfed Terra Lago with Larry & Patti. Though the day appears sunny and warm, it actually turned out to be quite a cool and windy day.

But the scenery was still awe-inspiring. I think this is the Little San Bernadino Mountain Range towering in the background, not so little, I'd say!

And to the south is the Santa Rosa range, with the late afternoon sun painting the hills in shifting hues and shadows.

I don't think I've ever been able to get a picture of a road-runner before! This little fella was very inquisitive and waltzed around long enough for me to get some good pictures as well as a little video.

A little focus on Larry...

For those of you who think we're on holidays, it's only half true! Though he's not at work, Larry usually spends a couple of hours working every day. You have to admit, it's a pretty comfy office!

He seems to enjoy work down here- it has it's happy moments!

Every so often, he takes a "grapefruit break". This entails hauling out the grapefruit picker, picking a dozen or more HUGE grapefruit, then squeezing the juice out of them. That's when you can honestly say you have freshly squeezed juice!

On other mornings, we go out for breakfast and he might be interrupted by a business call. This time, the office is quite energizing!

"Aunt Mary's Garden"

A number of years ago we discovered this gem at La Quinta. The beautifully kept flower gardens reminded us of my Aunt Mary who was a meticulous gardener and loved flowers. She would have loved this spot.

It has a colorful and interesting array of flowers, waterways and trees.

It's soothing to the spirit to wander around and take in the sights and smells.
I loved this little corner- it looks so Mexican.

There were these two huge trees up on top of the hill. I don't know what kind they were but they looked majestic.

I have this thing about doors... I love them and wonder where they lead to. Actually, they led us to the first picture! The LaQuinta Resort is a huge one, that just goes on and on.

To finish our little tour, we sat down and enjoyed an iced mocha and an iced latte. Yummmm!

Another golf game!

Today we're golfing with Reg & Edie from Grande Prairie. This was a much warmer, calmer day & golfing was more fun!

Fishing for golf balls.

Just below the tee box was this little creek with some Mallards feeding.

Barbeque at Ed & Evelyn's

We completed our last round of golf for the holidays. We played at Mesquite, which is not our favorite course. However, we had good company and the weather was gorgeous, so it was still a great day. To finish in style, we were invited to Ed & Evelyn's for a barbeque. Here's Ed, beside their motor home, barbequing.

It was super delicious! Best of all, (well, that wasn't quite the best!), it was warm enough to eat outside. That's something I look forward to in March, but it just didn't get warm enough earlier. We're going to miss our golf partners, Reg & Edie.

Time to eat! And after that, we go home to pack.
