Celebrating Sadie's first birthday

The two great-grandmas came to help us celebrate Sadie's first birthday at the golf course. Here is great-grandma Eidse with Sadie & Hannah. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of great-grandma D this time.

The boys have suddenly developed a keen interest in coloring which makes for much quieter "going out meals"!

Checking out her birthday gift.

Sadies suddenly feeling shy when the spotlight is on her!

Great-grandma Eidse with a funny-looking Hannah.

This was Hannah with a funny-looking great-grandma Eidse! I decided not to post her image!

Sadie Matilda turns 0ne!

Before the party - Chef Dave preparing the dough for pizzas.

Sadie's two favorite activities - crawling & exploring Auntie Andrea's bag.

Sadie really doesn't have a favorite stuffed toy, so it was a bit difficult choosing a theme! She does have a toy quacking duck she likes but it really doesn't translate into a good image for a cake! So, I chose a rubber ducky.

Why are there hands covering Sadie's? Well, we all remember Elliot's first birthday when, not once, but twice, he burned his fingers on his birthday cakes! Actually, I think the second time, he was just so startled when we covered his hands so quickly just before he touched the candle! So, even Jonas is concerned!

Aw, is that all there is? I was hoping for more!
Sadie got some pyjamas for her birthday. She knows clothes are to be tried on - she's just not quite sure how to go about it...

..., so she wraps them around her neck, like a boa!

On our recent trip to Charleston, we brought back some seashells we retrieved on the ocean shoreline thinking the boys might like to see them and play with them. Here's Elliot, engrossed in them.

Hannah playing with Papa

A trip to Tastees for supper & ice-cream

Elliot, in his own little ice-cream world.

  And Jonas in his!

It's hard to capture a smile from Sadie, but on top of Papa's shoulders, who wouldn't be happy!

Chocolate-coated vanilla cone - yummy!

Looking at this picture, you would think that eating ice-cream was quite a difficult chore! I guess it's the concentration it takes!

Sadie is quite enjoying her ice-cream, too.

Playground at Tastee's

It's virtually impossible to get a picture of both Jonas & Elliot at once! I wanted a picture of them together at the top of the slide, but every time they were almost ready, one or the other would start sliding. After awhile I think they were just trying to frustrate me in my attempt to capture the moment! Even in this picture, you can see Jonas' feet are blurry!

Sadie isn't quite so fast, but her smiles are so fleeting, it's hard to capture them, too!

Smiling, but hands in motion!

I think she has such an "Eidse loook" in this picture!

Almost done!

Here are a few pictures of the latest developments in our kitchen saga. This past week, our painter came and did some touchups as well as repainting the ceiling trim a lighter color. It looks much better!

The plumbing guy came and ducted our hood fun out of the attic. Then, the most visible change is our backsplash. The two guys who worked at that did an excellent job and we like the end result. It needs a coat of sealer which will happen tomorrow morning.

So, now we are almost done, just a few more small details. And I need to do some re-organizing as I'm finding some things are not quite as handily available as they should be. But it feels good to have a fully functional kitchen again!
