It's Story Time!

  It's great that even though we can't physically be with our grandkids, there's a steady flow of pictures. Hooray for Dave's new camera & hooray that someone is using it!

Our "Last Supper" in Palm Springs

  This is Mimi's, a restaurant we have driven past many a time, but never visited till this trip. Kerry & Jo did a trial run, pronounced it good, and so here we are!

  It was a warm, calm evening, perfect for dining outdoors.

  As usual, we shared a meal because the Americans seem to think we have huge appetites! I guess they don't want us to leave hungry! The food was good & I'm sure we'll be back. Farewell to Palm Springs for 2008!

Golfing Oak Valley

  Kerry & Jo joined us for this golfing expedition. I don't know the name of these flowers but they are very showy & bloom in abundance.

  Gazanias bloom in abundant perfusion all over this golf course.

 

I've captured the visual images of the floral beauty, but there's more that I can't capture. It's the trill of red-winged blackirds, the pungent scent of pollen and the feel of soft, warm breezes on your face. Ahhhhh....

Our new favorite course - Oak Quarry

Golf is more than about golfing - it's about observing & enjoying the everchanging landscape around you.

This is the signature flower of Oak Quarry. Overlooking quarry pools, beside golf paths and amid rock & dry brambly bushes, these flowers are lifting their bright heads.

It reminds me of the admonition to "grow where you are planted".

One brightly blooming flower can change the desert landscape into something of beauty.

Still at Oak Quarry

On days it was too hot to golf in the valley, we drove out to find different courses in a little cooler weather! Oak Quarry, a very unique & rugged mountain course. It's not for the faint of heart as you can see!



It's cut out of a quarry, obviously, but beautiful vistas appear as you travel along the golf paths. It overlooks valleys & mountains, with pools appearing in some areas. With no condos built around it, the atmosphere is serene & pristine.

It was so good to get to know Elliot after not having seen him for 3 months. He is such a happy & contented boy. We got to see his little character coming out!
He is probably nearly at his peak in "baby fat" & you could just eat him up!
