July Cottage weekend

Focus on Jonas: loves the water & all things aquatic-related.

Is getting braver since he's taken swimming lessons.

You can't always see it, but his imagination is in constant motion. Even as he's walking, you can bet he has something definite on his mind!

Loves Mom's attention, as well as anybody else who will lend half an ear - and he always has lots to say!

Meet Elliot - almost three

Loves to help with the dishes, because it involves water!

Determined to do things "my way".

Coordinated, interested in all sports.

You have no idea from this picture - but he has a flair for the dramatic! A goaltender must fall down to make a save. Never mind that he is much better if he actually keeps his eye on the ball & stops it!

Go away - I've had enough of you & your camera!

Hannah & Sadie Interacting

Hannah loves it when Sadie is anywhere near her! She is so excited while Sadie, on the other hand, seems is very blase about the whole encounter! At this point, however, Sadie seems to be listening intently to what Hannah might be trying to verbalize!

Or, maybe she just has a toy that Sadie would like to retrieve!

"I give up! I can't make out what she's trying to say!"

"Here, let me show you what I do when you don't listen to me!"

Morden garden tour

Two weeks ago Val & I participated in the annual garden tour. There are some beautiful floral gardens that you don't just see every day. Obviously, some people have a lot greener thumb than I do!

These are a sampling of some of the better ones we saw.

I think we'll do this again next year & see the out of town gardens as well.

It turned out to be a very warm day so we had a nice rest stop at the Oak Park Gardens where they offered us iced lemonade & sweets.

Breakfast on the clubhouse patio

Our favorite place to go for summer breakfasts is the golf course patio. Not only does it have the best view in the area but the kids can play on the deck before & after they eat. Grandma D always accompanies us but I don't have a picture of her today.

Andrea & Hannah usually join us.

Sadie is happy to sit and eat, but happiest when she can crawl free range & gather stones!

Jonas & Elliot love blowing bubbles in their chocolate milk.

Going for a round with Papa & Gigi

Even though we live very close to the local golf course, it's tough to find time to take the boys out for a round. By the time Larry gets home from work and we have supper, it's getting close to bedtime for them. They go to bed between 7:30 and 8:00.

It was a beautiful evening and we had an enjoyable 6 holes or so. Jonas tried a few tee-offs and then joined us on the putting green. We're thinking he holds his club like he might be a lefty, so next time we'll try some left-handed clubs for him.

It's the 9th hole and he's contemplating his next shot!

And - the ball goes in! Now it's time for a treat! Jonas points out that they have a "dessert tray" at the clubhouse. I guess he remembers this from previous Sunday morning brunch experiences! We redirect his thinking towards ice-cream & wind up the evening activities with a trip to DQ.

Summer Fun!

We had a yummy waffle & fruit brunch with both great-grandmas a few weeks ago. Grandma D is holding Hannah, her youngest great grandchild.

Sadie is no longer staying in one spot - it's about time!

She is full into crawling/crabwalking! She loves being outdoors & has quite a nice little tan! And she is learning to keep her hat on her head!

The boys love their little pool, slide & water shooters. The girls are not quite as excited about water!
