Dining in Vietnam!

Dining in foreign countries is always a little strange, to say the least! So far, we all look happy - but thus far, there is no food set before us!
This is a delicious dish of shrimp in a tamarind sauce (one of my favorites!) Beside it is caramelized fish in a clay pot, which also is very tasty!
This is a common fruit which we found waiting for us in our hotel room. I asked the maid what it was called & she called it "something I can't remember"! So, I looked it up on the internet & it is rambutan. You peel off the fuzzy, leathery skin & inside the flesh is translucent, whitish or very pale pink, with a sweet, mildly acidic flavour.

And this, of course, is coconut. I found the taste of room temperature coconut milk not really to my liking!

Mom,

We ate that kind of fruit in India...there they called them lychees. Did you like them?
