
These columns to the right are what's left of the Temple of Castor & Pollux. Castor & Pollux were the twin sons of the Greek god Zeus. According to legend they came to the aid of Rome in a major battle mounted on their horses. After the victory they appeared in the Roman Forum and watered their horses at the Spring of Juturna. The temple was completed in 484BC in honor of the the two gods.

This is the Arch of Septimius Severus. It is a victory arch dedicated in 203AD to celebrate the Parthenian victories of the Emperor Septimius Severus and his sons.

It is one of the most well- preserved arches in Rome.
