We only hiked for just over an hour but it sure was nice to get into the shade! The temp was in the low to mid eighties, which we thought was probably the upper limit of how warm we'd like it to be for hiking!

The weather forecast was for nineties in the next couple of days so we thought we'd better do this while it was cooler!

This is a very old saguaro cactus. How do we know that? Well, apparently, the saguaro does not grow any "arms" till it reaches the ripe old age of 65 to 70. The more "arms" it has the older it is. By the time it has 5 arms or more, it is 200 years old. Hence, this is a very old cactus!
We've arrived at the canyon floor where there's water & entirely different vegetation. We are hot and sweaty & ready to go for an ice-cold mocha at Starbucks!
